Infection with head lice (pediculus humanus capitis) is a common condition that can affect people of all ages, but is most widespread in children of primary school age.1 The infection may be a nuisance, but rarely causes any serious health problems other than an itchy scalp. Nevertheless, the infection can cause excessive anxiety for parents and teachers, who often have difficulty dealing with the problem. |
